ROOTSTOCK OPTIONS
Dwarf
BUD 9: The most dwarfing rootstock we currently offer. Bud 9 is very early precocity, winter hardy, resistant to collar rot fire blight. Tree support is recommended when using this rootstock. Tree will be 6-10ft tall at maturity.
Semi-dwarf
EMLA 7: The most widely planted rootstock. Anchors well and produces a strong, sturdy tree. Moderately resistant to collar rot. Tendency to sucker. Tree will be 10-12 ft tall at maturity.
Standard
Sproutfree (4 year old trees): Vigorous rootstock, adaptable to a wide range of soil types. Very drought tolerant and disease resistant. 20 - 30 ft tall at maturity. Extremely sucker resistant. Smaller tree heights can be maintained with annual pruning.

POLLINATION
Most of the offered varieties cross-pollinate each other with the following exception:
*** - Indicates the variety is a triploid. Triploids are considered pollen sterile meaning they cannot pollinate other varieties. Plant a triploid apple with 2 other varieties that can cross-pollinate each other as well as the tripod variety.

Sweet Sixteen: From U of Minnesota: Crisp and juicy with an exotic yellow flesh and a very sweet, unusual sugar cane or spicy cherry candy flavor. The fruit stores for 5 to 8 weeks. The tree is very vigorous and fruit may be subject to premature drops. Introduced in 1977. Ripens late September.
